Additional Modalities
-
Gua sha is a traditional therapeutic technique that uses smooth, contoured tools—often made of stone, jade, or stainless steel—to gently glide across the skin. Within massage therapy, gua sha is used to release fascial tension, improve circulation, and encourage the body’s natural healing responses.
During treatment, the tools are applied with slow, mindful strokes to soften tight muscles, dissolve areas of restriction, and promote a deep sense of relief. This modality can help support mobility, reduce discomfort from chronic tension, and enhance overall tissue health.
-
Myofascial cupping is a therapeutic technique that uses gentle suction to lift and decompress the soft tissues. Unlike traditional massage, which applies pressure downward, cupping works by creating space within the fascia and muscles—helping to release restriction, improve mobility, and enhance blood and lymphatic flow.
During treatment, silicone or glass cups are placed on the skin and may remain stationary or be glided across the tissue to encourage fluid movement and soften areas of tension. This technique can help reduce chronic tightness, support recovery, and promote a deep sense of relief.
Cupping is always integrated with care and professionalism, ensuring comfort and safety. Each session is tailored to your needs and may be combined with massage therapy to create a holistic, balanced, and effective treatment experience.
-
Hydrotherapy is the therapeutic use of heat and water to support the body’s natural ability to relax, restore, and heal. When integrated into massage therapy, it enhances circulation, softens tight tissues, and encourages deeper, more effective treatment outcomes—all while creating a calming, nurturing experience.
Hot Towels
Warm, steamed towels are gently applied to areas of tension to soften muscles and prepare the tissues for massage. The heat encourages relaxation, reduces discomfort, and helps release fascial restrictions, allowing for smoother, more comfortable techniques.Heat Pad Therapy
A soothing heat pad may be used during your treatment to warm deeper layers of muscle. This steady, comforting heat increases blood flow, eases chronic tightness, and supports a more holistic sense of grounding and relaxation. -
Wood therapy uses specially crafted wooden tools—such as sculpting rollers, contouring boards, and smooth handheld instruments—to support therapeutic massage and lymphatic drainage. These tools are designed with ergonomic shapes that allow a therapist to work with precision, comfort, and consistency.
Wood therapy tools help gently stimulate the soft tissues and fascia, making it easier to address areas of tension, restriction, or fluid stagnation. The rhythmic, gliding movements of the tools can:Encourage circulation and lymphatic flow
Support detoxification and reduce fluid retention
Soften muscle tension and fascial adhesions
Enhance the effectiveness of manual massage techniques
When used within a lymphatic drainage session, wooden tools help guide lymphatic fluid toward the body’s natural drainage pathways. Their smooth surfaces and consistent pressure can make the process more efficient while still feeling gentle and soothing. -
The deep, sustained heat of a sauna stimulates circulation and encourages the body to sweat, one of its most natural and effective detox pathways. This process helps:
Flush metabolic waste and toxins
Stimulate lymphatic flow
Support healthy skin and cellular renewal
Reduce fluid retention and inflammation
By activating these natural cleansing processes before a massage, the tissues become more receptive and responsive to hands-on care.
-
Paraffin wax offers a deeply hydrating, therapeutic form of heat. Warm melted wax is applied to the hands or feet to ease joint stiffness, improve mobility, and nourish the skin. It’s especially beneficial for those experiencing arthritis, chronic tension, or dry, fatigued tissues.
